PTO Connect Initiatives

  • Read-a-Thon

Each year, PTO Connect proudly hosts its annual Read-A-Thon, a highly anticipated event that consistently raises substantial funds for Lynchburg City School PTOs. This impactful program unites students in the joy of reading, while simultaneously empowering PTOs to raise crucial funds for their respective schools. Last year students from five local schools read over 430,000 minutes and raised over $44,000 for their schools!

  • Parents as Partners

The "Parents as Partners" initiative underscores the belief that when children observe their parents actively participating in their education, they begin to take ownership of their own learning. The outcome of these mutually beneficial relationships are schools that are empowered to operate at their highest potential, while also allowing children to see the vital importance of loving their school and appreciating their teachers, ultimately leading to improved learning experiences.

  • Beyond the Books

Thanks to relationships formed through PTO Connect, partner organizations like Camp Kum-Ba-Yah, The Academy Center of the Arts, and the Virginia Cooperative Extension give students opportunities to serve their local community. These connections inspire students to form groups based on topics they’re passionate about, like environmental conservation, public safety, the arts, and hunger.
